Kate Martin will be playing in the 3x3 Unrivaled league on the Laces team starting this month. Should be fun to watch. The team selection process for Unrivaled was interesting - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y965D3loQrg

One thing I’m not clear about is when Golden State has to corral their choices into contracts. Temi is a RFA and Billings is an UFA. When do they have to sign them by?

I guess I am asking when they will actually have a team? That is, prior to the draft.

They don’t ever have to sign the players.

GSV has no special rights to Billings unless they core her, which I understand is pretty unlikely. The EARLIEST anyone can sign the unrestricted free agents is Feb 1 2025.

Temi’s an RFA. The restricted ones can negotiate with other teams Jan 21, and the GSV qualifying offer has to be made by Jan 11.

Notre Dame’s #3 Olivia Miles and #5 Sonia Citron are pulling away from #1 Bueckers and UConn.

Citron looks strong on D… I’m sure the Valks coaches are watching this game closely.

One problem with trying to follow the players I chose, Citron and Fudd, is that television coverage favors U Conn, but rarely includes Notre Dame women’s basketball games.

I understand they are following/featuring Bueckers.

Miles excelled at scoring and Citron did a good job as the primary guard on Bueckers.

But who’s watching them when you can enjoy the fast, fierce, and feisty Hannah Hidalgo.

Citron excelled in the game against Syracuse and Texas.

I believe Hidalgo is in the 2027 draft class, but could declare early into the 2026 class…

I was worried that she is very short, 5’6” tall. Even Vandersloot at 5‘8“ tall is taller and she looks pretty small out there in NY.

Basically OT, but this prompted a google search in which I learned of 17 year-old Chinese center Zhang Ziyu, who is listed at 7’3” (and rumored possibly to be even taller 😳). If she enters the W, she will surpass the late Margo Dydek as the tallest player in league history.

Nice shout-out for Her Hoop Stats - been around for awhile, usually a great read and though I glaze over for the stats deep dives, some people here might love that.

Q. ... If you could describe the group you assembled tonight, the group of 11 women, in one word, what would it be?

NATALIE NAKASE: Competitive.

Q. Why that word of all things?

NATALIE NAKASE: So more than one word?

Oh I love Nakase already!!! :D
