This series is coming down to Brondello vs Reeve. 100%

If you're right, my money is on Minnesota. No disrespect to Sandy, but Reeve is just something else, imo. Ionescu was absolutely killing them in the first half, and she only got one shot up in the second half. One. Still played well and found ways to impact the game, as great players will, but I just felt it exemplified Minnesota's ability to take things away from the opposition.

Had to watch delayed, and from the final score I was expecting a boring game, but it was quite entertaining.

In a previous comment, I was going to say that the Liberty probably can’t finish out this series without Lainey Hamilton. And here she was in this game, shining. Finally shooting. Playing through pain. Strange game from Sabrina. JJ and Leonie kept their fouling under control.
In general, the Liberty was playing their type of basketball. Lots of movement. Lots of 3s. Lots of turnovers. Sound familiar?

Hope this series goes to 5! Hats off to Pheese... I had no idea she was this good. Her defense reminds me of Draymond. Undersized, but gets low to the ground, uses strength to hold her position, uses length to get to the ball and force tie-ups, excellent lateral speed. She's the system. She makes her teammates better by her screens, gravity and shot-making.

Sabrina "STEPHEN" Ionescu for the WIN!!!!
Sabrina Ionescu took a hail mary shot almost from the logo and made it. With like ten seconds to go. And the game tied.

Crazy shotmaking. Sabrina with two mega shots in the last minute.

Sabrina also had a clutch assist to Jonquel. But that last shot was Steph-like. I hope the Lynx win game 4. This series deserves to go 5.

Okay, I'm super late to this party (time zone), but my god, Sabrina. Amazing game. Amazing shots. Just awesome.

Another nail biter, and with 1:10 to go, Jones with an and-1 FT to tie...

Oooof, NYL missed out on a 5-on-4 fast break, then put Stewart on a small but out on the perimeter. Don't know about that...

That was a BS call.

whew, Game 5, here we come. Sab nowhere close on the prayer shot -- excusable -- but a really rough boxing out foul the play before that led to the game deciding FTs.
I'll try to have a proper game thread before Sunday. I think I'll go back to Substack, as it's just kind of uncomfortable commenting here.

Woohoo! Game 5. These 2 teams are evenly matched, even though NY has more star power. Dorka's a better fit than Hines-Allen when Alanna needs a rest.
Great win for women's basketball.

That's now two games in these finals where the officials have awarded what were likely to be the game winning FTs in the final seconds. In Game 1 it was arguably more forgivable because it was a 1-point game, so a non-call would also have decided the outcome (and as it happened, Stewie missed one). But in Game 4, all they had to do was swallow the whistle and we could have had an epic OT period.
On the bright side, now we get Game 5.
Watching these games with the expansion draft in mind, I’m wondering if Nyara Sabally might be playing her way into a protected spot for NY. She’d have seemed like a possible draftee.
Ditto Dorka Juhasz on the other side. Minnesota will have someone decent to offer one way or the other, between Dorka, Diamond Miller, and Pili.
